The Ur-Krostitzer hallmark shows the Swedish king Gustav II. Gustav Adolf, who is supposed to have passed by the village of Krostitz in 1632 during the Thirty Years' War. According to legend, the king was brought a refreshing beer by the town brewer. In gratitude, the king is said to have given the brewmaster a golden ring.
